It's not the encore they were looking for, but Kenny Brooks and the James Madison University women's basketball team will be in the WNIT hosting Davidson in the opening round.
JMU, left out of the NCAA Tournament after back-to-back automatic bids from winning the CAA Tournament. Drexel knocked the Dukes out of the conference tournament in the semifinals this season before losing to Delaware in the final.
Madison then claimed the automatic bid to the WNIT as the highest finishing team in the CAA outside the NCAA tournament.
Davidson finished in a tie for first in the Southern Conference with Appalachian State with a 17-3 conference record.
Four other CAA squads made the WNIT: Hofstra, UNC Wilmington, Virginia Commonwealth and Drexel. Hofstra and UNC Wilmington will host opening round games, VCU and Drexel will play on the road.
This is JMU's fifth trip to the NIT. They have never lost in the first round of the tournament.
This is the seventh year in a row the Dukes have made the postseason.
The Davidson-JMU winner will play the Charlotte-Wake Forest winner in the second round.
