HARRISONBURG, Va.—The James Madison University football team announced its schedule for the 2014 season today, including defending Colonial Athletic Association champion and national runner-up Towson among the Dukes five home opponents. The home game times will be tentatively set in the coming weeks but will still be subject to change based on CAA Television contracts.

"We are excited about this schedule, including the quality road games, taking on teams like Maryland, Lehigh and Charlotte,” Director of Athletics Jeff Bourne said. “This schedule format reinforces our goal of playing quality teams year in and year out. With Coach Everett Withers generating new excitement in the program, we believe we will have an exciting atmosphere this season.”

”Our coaches and players are excited for the challenges this schedule presents and something to look forward to throughout all of our spring workouts and practices,” Withers said. “I’m personally looking forward to the great game-day experience here at Bridgeforth with all of the JMU fans! It is an exciting time here at JMU!”

The Dukes open with a pair of road games, heading to Football Bowl Subdivision opponent and Big 10 member Maryland on Aug. 30 before traveling to Lehigh, Sept. 6. The matchup with the Mountain Hawks will be the first time the two schools have met since the dramatic 14-13 JMU victory at Lehigh en route to the 2004 National Championship. Madison returns home to take on Saint Francis (Pa.) for the home opener on Sept. 13.

For the third consecutive season Madison opens conference play on the road, traveling to Villanova to take on the Wildcats, Sept. 20. JMU then takes on Delaware Sept. 27, but this time in the friendly confines of Bridgeforth Stadium, representing the Blue Hens' first visit since the stadium remodeling was completed in 2011.

From there, the Dukes play two more conference tilts, traveling to Albany Oct. 4 and then home to host Towson for Family Weekend on Oct. 11.

Following a bye week on Oct. 18, JMU hits the road for the final non-conference contest of the season at Charlotte on Oct. 25, a return of last year's contest in Harrisonburg. After hosting William & Mary on Nov. 1 for Homecoming, JMU plays back-to-back CAA road games, traveling for the first time to Stony Brook Nov. 8 and then down the road two hours at in-state rival Richmond Nov. 15. Madison wraps up the 2014 regular season hosting league-newcomer Elon at Bridgeforth Stadium Nov. 22.

Season ticket packages including all five home games and parking, are available now and the Athletic Ticket Office is accepting orders for new season tickets as well as renewals for existing accounts. Single game tickets for both home and away match-ups will be available starting June 1. Season tickets can be ordered online or by contacting the Athletic Ticket Office at 540-568-3853. Information regarding special promotions for the season, including United Way Day, Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day, Heroes Day for military appreciation and first responders and recognition of the 2004 National Championship squad, will be released in the coming weeks.
