FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Sam Lockley scored the winning goal with less than five minutes left in regulation to lift Mary Washington to a 3-2 victory over Bridgewater in non-conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, the offenses took over in the final 45 minutes.
Bridgewater scored first when Brittney Harris found the back of the net off an assist from Krissy Snyder for a 1-0 lead early in the second half.
Erin Reynolds tied the game with a goal for Mary Washington in the 58th minute but Bridgewater regained the lead 10 minutes later on an unassisted goal by Jacey Kelley.
Reynolds tied the game again at 2-2 with a goal in the 81st minute, setting the stage for Lockley's winning goal five minutes later.
Bridgewater held a slight 15-12 edge in shots and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
Krista Kelly recorded five saves for Bridgewater while Charlotte Owens turned away nine shots for Mary Washington.
Bridgewater (10-6-1) returns to action Tuesday afternoon when the Eagles celebrate senior day against Randolph College. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
