Nationals shut out Astros, 7-0, behind Zimmermann's strong start

HOUSTON, TX (WHSV) -- Anthony Rendon was a triple short from completing the cycle, but his offensive power lifted the Nationals to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Astros on Wednesday night.

Rendon had four hits, including a two-run double and a solo home run at Minute Maid Park in the latter half of a two-game series in front of "hundreds" of family and friends in his hometown of Houston.

Jordan Zimmermann earned his second win of the season and 45th in his career after pitching six and one-third innings, giving up no runs on seven hits while throwing seven strikeouts.

The Nationals travel to Philadelphia for a three-game series starting on Friday.
