Redskins RG3 'a little bit sore' With Hurt Knee

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- Robert Griffin III should be able to practice this week despite hurting his left knee in the Washington Redskins' latest loss.

Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that Griffin's knee is "a little bit sore." The coach said he expects the quarterback to be practicing Wednesday when the Redskins begin on-field preparations for the San Diego Chargers.

Griffin was hurt in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 45-21 loss to the Denver Broncos. Shanahan said Griffin could have returned to the game, but the coach opted to stay with backup Kirk Cousins because the Redskins were essentially out of the game.

Griffin tore ligaments in his right knee last season and has mostly struggled since he returned. He has nine touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 79.2 rating for a team that's 2-5.
