After two straight seasons with one win apiece, the Petersburg Vikings have implemented a new strategy for 2012. It's all about the weight room.
Second year head coach Jeff Dodd said Petersburg has never had a true weight program before. Now, after an off-season of growing bigger, faster, and stronger in the weight room, he's also seen the team grow stronger through those off-season workouts.
Corey Pool is back as the starting quarterback for the Vikings, who will run out multiple offenses this season, in everything from the Wing-T, to the Spread. On defense, Petersburg looks to keep things simple, lining up in the 4-4.
Speed will be a strength for the Vikings, as will an improved unit on the line on both sides of the ball, but depth could be an issue. They'll return 8 starters on offense and 7 on defense from a team that went 1-9 last season.
Petersburg's 2012 schedule looks like this:
8/24 – KEYSER
8/31 – PENDLETON CO.
9/7 – @BERKELEY SPRINGS
9/14 – LINCOLN
9/21 – OPEN
9/28 – PHILIP BARBOUR
10/5 – @SOUTHERN GARRETT, MD
10/12 – @FRANKFORT
10/19 – @MOOREFIELD
