CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- A two-game winning streak has kept alive Virginia's hopes of qualifying for a bowl game.
The Cavaliers needed to win their last four regular-season games to become bowl eligible. Now halfway there, their confidence is growing stronger each week.
Virginia (4-6, 2-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) beat Miami 41-40 on Saturday on Michael Rocco's 10-yard touchdown pass to Jake McGee with 6 seconds left.
Next up for the Cavs is a visit from North Carolina Thursday night.
The Tar Heels (6-4, 3-3) will likely be even more motivated than usual to make a good showing. They gave up a school-record 68 points last weekend at home in an 18-point loss to Georgia Tech.
Virginia linebacker Steve Greer says the Cavaliers are fired up about playing the way they knew they could.
