West Takes RCBL All-Star Game

The West topped the East 8-7 in the 2011 Rockingham County Baseball League All-Star Game at Ray Heatwole Field Saturday night.

The West jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second inning, but trailed most of the game.

Scott Hern of the Bridgewater Reds was named the game's Most Valuable Player.

Josh Veney of the New Market Shockers won the home run derby before the game with 16 home runs. Ryan Cooper of the Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks came in second with 11 home runs.

West players came from the Bridgewater Reds, Clover Hill Bucks, Montezuma Braves.

East players played for the Broadway Bruins, Elkton Blue Sox, New Market Shockers, or the Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks.
