The Cleveland Indians selected James Madison catcher Jake Lowery in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball draft Tuesday.

Lowery, a junior, was the 128th pick overall in the three-day draft, the seventh pick of Round 4.

Lowery is coming off one of the biggest offensive seasons in JMU history. He hit .359, with a school record 91 RBI, and he matched the JMU and CAA single-season records with 24 home runs.

He also broke the school records for extra-base hits and total bases, and matched the single-season record for triples with eight.

Lowery was the 2011 CAA player of the year, and last weekend was named to the all-region team at North Carolina, where JMU lost to the Tar Heels in the regional championship.
