David Herbek's baseball career will continue as a member of the Chicago White Sox organization.

The White Sox took Herbek, a senior shortstop from James Madison, in Round 15 of Major League Baseball's annual draft Tuesday.

Herbek became the second JMU player taken Tuesday. The Indians took junior catcher Jake Lowery in Round 4.

Herbek led the Dukes in hitting with a .362 average in 2011. He also hit 15 home runs, and his 76 RBI is the second-best single-season total in school history.

A former walk-on who took over as JMU's starting shortstop during his freshman year, Herbek ranks among the program's all-time leaders in several offensive categories, including hits (251, 10th); doubles (62, second); runs (189, sixth); and RBI (195, fourth).

He also holds the CAA's all-time record with 55 hit by pitches.
