Snow Standing Out at JMU

It's hard to miss Tyler Snow on the practice field at James Madison.

While his teammates practice wearing the Dukes' traditional gold helmets, Snow's helmet is a bright white.

According to the defensive lineman, the team has tried seven different styles of helmet, and his newest is the first that fits his head.

"We've had to call everyone but Obama and George Bush to get him a helmet that fits," deadpanned head coach Mickey Matthews. "Everyday his helmet would come off like four or five times. His face was really looking rough, and his mother was mad at me to get a helmet that fit."

But Matthews says the white helmet is just one reason Snow has stood out in practice.

The Dukes are counting on several fresh faces on the defensive line this fall, and Matthews says Snow is one of eight players who will be part of the rotation.

"Tyler's going to be a great player. He has a motor. He's six-three and 250, and he's just a baby. He's just a freshman," he said. "But we think Tyler Snow is going to be a great player." is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
