James Madison University is set to host Virginia Military Institute for Saturday's football game.

The game ball is in route and is being escorted by 20 ROTC cadets from both schools.

The cadets are hiking 61 miles in three days from VMI to JMU. They'll arrive in Harrisonburg, with the game ball, in time for kickoff.

They stopped just south of Staunton Friday for lunch after marching 30 miles, to tend to blisters on their feet and get some needed rest.

"It's a remembrance march for people who are abroad, all over the place. All of us got into it," says VMI junior James Lockett.

"I think it's very important whenever we get an opportunity to do anything like this. It just shows that we care and really support the troops," says JMU sophomore Kristal Harpes.

The cadets were treated to a barbecue at the Verona fire station Friday night. While there, they met with JMU coach Mickey Matthews.

They will finish their march Saturday morning with a 20 mile hike to the stadium.
