Football coach Mickey Matthews' contract extension with James Madison is a done deal.
Athletic director Jeff Bourne confirmed Thursday that Matthews has signed a one-year extension, which keeps him under contract through January 2014.
The extra year is worth the same $222,000 base salary Matthews currently earns, Bourne said.
Matthews has won 82 games, the highest total in school history, in 11 seasons at JMU. He's led the Dukes to five FCS playoff appearances, including the 2008 CAA title and the 2004 national championship.
