R.E. Lee senior Terrell Mickens says he'll play college football at James Madison next season.
Mickens said by phone Monday that he had given a verbal commitment to JMU. Mickens said he was offered a scholarship during an official visit to JMU this past weekend.
"It went well," Mickens said of the visit.
He said he planned to sign his official letter of intent to JMU at a ceremony Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday is National Signing Day, the first day a high school senior can sign a letter of intent.
Mickens was recently voted to the Virginia High School Coaches Association AA All-State 2nd Team as a defensive back. He said JMU is recruiting him at the same position.
He would join rising senior offensive lineman Roane Babington and rising sophomore receiver/quarterback Dae'Quan Scott as Lee alumni on the Dukes' roster.
