Dukes Advance to Seventh Straight CAA Semifinal Appearance

The James Madison women are a win closer to another CAA championship.

The Dukes beat Georgia State 70-51 Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the CAA Championship in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. With the win, JMU advances to the tournament semifinals for the seventh straight season.

The Dukes, the defending league champs and top seed in this year's tournament, now face VCU at 12 p.m. Saturday. The Rams advanced to the semifinals with an 87-76 win over Hofstra on Friday.

Four JMU players scored in double figures in Friday's win. CAA player of the year Dawn Evans, Lauren Jimenez and Courtney Hamner each had 14, and sophomore Tarik Hislop added 13.

Sophomore Nikki Newman had a career-high 15 rebounds off the bench.
