Evans Named CAA Player of the Year

Dawn Evans has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year for the first time.

The award came by vote of women's basketball coaches throughout the CAA.

Evans, a senior, was also named All-CAA First Team, while Lauren Jimemez was selected for the Second Team.

Evans is the nation's second leading scorer at 23.6 points per game and leads the CAA in the same category.

She has been named All-CAA first team three times, but had never won the Player of the Year award.

Evans' selection marks the third time a Duke on Kenny Brooks' squad has won the award since 2007. She is the fourth player in James Madison University history to take home the illustrious award.
