Stonewall Jackson's Whitney Wilkins is full of energy. "It makes you say, "I want to be like that" because she's so spunky and happy and it's contagious. She has contagious energy," says Whitney's Spanish Teacher Peggy Dunstan.
"She has a lot of energy. She never was one to sit around and watch television, or read so much, she likes to stay active," says Whitney's Tennis Coach Cindy Wilkins.
But she has been still long enough to hit the books. Whitney has a 4.0 g.p.a., while taking 4 different AP courses, she's a National Honor Society member, and she's ranked 11th in her class.
"When I started high school, I really wanted to get good grades. I didn't want to settle for average, I wanted to get good grades in high school, so I could get in to a good college," says Student Athlete of the Week Whitney Wilkins.
"She wasn't the very very top academic. But in terms of energy, and putting her heart in it and trying, she was definitely the top," says Peggy Dunstan.
"I want to get the best grades that I can. I will study until I feel confident that I'm going to get that good grade," says Whitney Wilkins.
Whitney's energy carries over to the court too. She's been 2nd team all district in volleyball, and in tennis, she was the district and region runner-up last year, and as well as co-player of the year.
"When it comes time for match play, she's serious, competitive and you know, she's not going to give up," says Cindy Wilkins.
"Whitney is her own person and she does what Whitney wants to do, and that's always the right thing to do," says Peggy Dunstan.
