Central High School's Skylar Wolf is circling you on the mat, he's not thinking about what might go wrong, he's thinking about what he's going to do right.
“Nervousness isn't a factor at that point. I'm just relying on what I've drilled in the wrestling room, what I've conditioned for and that prepares me for the match,” said Skylar.
Skylar doesn't just prepare himself for matches, he also helps teach the others on the team how to excel.
“The other kids look up to him constantly in the room. He works hard. He's a student of wrestling. Skylar does what he does well and he takes a few moves and gets them as near perfect as you can,” said Roger Barbee, Skylar's wrestling coach.
Skylar's not just a student of wrestling, he also has a love for environmental science. With a 3.74 GPA, he's focusing on how the world works.
“I don't want to have a job where I have to sit behind a desk all day. I mean, that might be part of it, but I really want to be outside doing things; running experiments, those types of things,” said Skylar.
He's not playing around when it comes to his future. Skylar already has a plan in place on how to get his dream job.
“Next year, I'm planning on going to Virginia Tech. I might do club wrestling there and right now I plan on doing natural resources although I'm not sure what major I want to go into yet with that.”
