Riverheads High School's Zach Clymore is the man under center for the Gladiators. He's always on and always making the perfect pass.
“I'm a competitive person, so I just like the competitiveness of football. I like how it's like a team based sport, where if one person screws up and it's going to throw everything off,” said Zach Clymore. “I like how we're always competing for a State Championship.”
His coach says his competitiveness is clear and his commitment is always there.
“Zach certainly does a good job. He throws the ball well. He runs the offense. He calls the right plays. He seems to get most of the right checks, when he needs too. He's just a pleasure to have on the field,” said Zach's coach Robert Casto.
To his teachers, Zach is a pleasure to have in the classroom too. Everyday he is all about scoring the grades to get to where he wants to go.
“My parents have always pushed me to get good grades. They've instilled in me that good grades can take you wherever you want to go, and be anything you want to be,” said Zach.
“He's always a hard worker. He's a leader in his classes. He's always been a good role model here, for the kids at Riverheads,” said his teacher, Tracy Cash.
The future is bright for Zach. He's ready to run onto college, stay around the games and complete his end goal.
“I definitely want to go to a four year university, where I think I want to major in Sports management where I can stay around the games. Something around sports, where I can eventually be like an Athletic Director,” said Zach.
Riverheads High School's Zach Clymore's commitment on the field and success in the classroom are why he's WHSV's Student Athlete of the Week.
