Allison Paige Michael is a three-time state champion at East Rockingham High School.
She is one of the state's top tennis players and is just as successful in the classroom.
In the school's first year, she lead the Eagles Tennis Team to the school's first state title.
For Allison, her love for tennis comes from the heart of a champion.
“I love it, I fell in love with it mainly after my second year in High School. I wanted to really peruse it, and play it in college, which I'm able to do that,” said Allison.
Her coach says her dependability is what makes her a solid member of the team.
“Last year, I wasn't sure what kind of team we were going to have. I knew Allison had worked really hard to accomplish some goals, state included, and she really came out here and tried hard everyday,” said her coach Allisa Bean.
Allison came to play in 2011, going undefeated, en route to also being a State Champion Singles and Doubles player.
Her winning attitude, carries over into the classroom as well, where she's focused on her future career.
“I think its really important to make good grades in High School, so it can set me up for my future education, and peruse the career I want,” said Allyson.
“She has a smile on her face. She's a hard worker, and she always come in for help when she needs it. When she misses school for tennis, she makes sure she gets her stuff made up. She has been fun, fun, fun to teach,” said her math teacher Natalie McCrady.
She is staying in-state for the future.
“I'm going to Radford University, I got a Tennis scholarship to play with them, so I'm really excited about that. I plan on studying and going to their nursing school. I want to be a nurse, an RN, when I get older,” said Allison.
For her skills on the tennis court and her success in the classroom Allison Paige Michael is WHSV's Student Athlete of the Week.
