TURNER ASHBY, Va. (WHSV) -- At Turner Ashby, Bre Bosley is a leader on and off the softball field, putting a priority on teamwork in both areas. And success follows.

Bosley is tough. How tough? Last season, she broke her nose during a bunting drill and still played the next day.

"I don't like taking days off,” Bosley said. “That's just not my style. I was determined to not let that affect my ability to play the next day."

Laura Bowman, Bosley's softball coach, says she has no fear.

“There's no way to stop her,” Bowman said. “She wanted to continue with practice. She was like 'oh, I'm fine,' and I was like 'no, you're not.'"

Bre's perseverance is not the only attribute she brings to the Knights' softball squad. As a captain and the only senior on the team, Bosley makes it her mission to promote camaraderie among her teammates.

"My whole thing is like teamwork,” Bosley said. “So I like to be teamly and have camaraderie and have everyone working toward the same goal, become one as a team. I like doing that stuff. It's pretty cool."

Bill Kyger, one of Bosley's teachers, likes the idea that she's a team player.

“She gives up herself for the benefit of everybody else and to make everybody else around her better,” Kyger said. “And that's what makes her an exceptional student athlete."

Bosley has had her share of individual accomplishments too. She's a three-time all-district performer in softball. But she's every bit as successful in the classroom, with a 4.1 GPA.

"I'm determined to do good, and I don't ever want to settle for less than my best effort,” Bosley said. “So I give everything I have, whether it's on the softball field or in the classroom. I try my hardest to do the best that i can do."

Next year, Bosley will attend James Madison University, where she plans to study nursing.
