As the quarterback at East Hardy High School in West Virginia, Kollin Foltz led the pack on the football field.
The Cougars went further than any team in school history, playing in two playoff games.
Kollin Fultz had 20 touchdowns and one interception.
He says it's his focus and drive that inspires him.
“Whenever Friday night come, it's just chills up and down your body all night long. It's just a great feeling, that you never want to get rid of,” said Kollin. “I love it, it's something I enjoy doing. I mean I love every other sport just as much as football, but its just something about football that always grabs me.”
His coach says he answers the call and gives everything he has in the game.
“In our offense, we ask the quarterback to do a lot. We run the no huddle, he's got to make checks, and he's got to throw the ball 30 to 40 times a game. He's stepped up and done that, and done it well. He's a smart kid, a good leader, and a tremendous athlete,” said Kollin's coach Chad Williams.
Kollin's athletic skills helped him earn 1st team All-State honors, he's leadership helped make him a team captain and his hard work has helped him earn a 4.0 GPA.
“I work hard at everything I do. I'm very competitive at things I do, and I love to be the best I can be in what I attend in,” said Kollin.
“He exemplifies what a student athlete is. I think without question, he takes academics first, and athletics second. He's excelled in both of those,” said Kollin's teacher David Rudy.
As for his future, he wants to stay close to his family.
“I plan on attending Shepherd University, maybe two maybe four years, not sure yet. I want to major in business. I plan on coming back to help my dad, as of right now, helping him on the farm,” said Kollin.
His success on the field and in the classroom is why Kollin Foltz is WHSV's Student Athlete of the Week.
