Estephany joined the WHSV news team in June 2012. She's excited to tell stories that make a difference in the community, and this Midwesterner is thrilled to call Harrisonburg her new home.
Estephany's interest for journalism started at a young age in her home country, Colombia, where she lived for 17 years. Her passion for journalism grew when she moved to the United States six years ago and settled in Wisconsin. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, double majoring in Journalism & Mass Communication and French. Her time in Wisconsin cultivated her love for sports, and she is a proud Cheesehead and Badger fan!
During her undergraduate career, Estephany learned many different platforms of communication. She was a writer for the student newspaper "The Daily Cardinal," a newscaster for WSUM Student radio, and a production intern for Wisconsin Public Radio. She learned more about TV news via her internships at WMTV and WISC-TV in Madison. Estephany lived abroad in Rennes, France for six months as part of a study abroad program, and reported for the Global Post website as an international student correspondent. Her favorite part about traveling abroad is having the chance to meet people from other cultures.
Estephany also has a passion for learning languages and exploring the world. She speaks Spanish and French. She?s proud of her Colombian heritage and hopes to build a strong connection with the Hispanic community in the Valley. ?Hola Amigos!
In her free time, Estephany enjoys traveling, cooking, running, photography and spending time with family and friends. She also loves to try foods from around the world.
