Emily joined WHSV in July 2014.
Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Emily has always loved the news. She knew this would be a lifelong passion once she realized that reading TIME and Newsweek magazine had always been more fun than picking up GLAMOUR.
Emily just graduated in May 2014 from The George Washington University in downtown D.C., with a Bachelors degree in Journalism with a minor in Public Health. (Go Colonials!)
While in college, Emily interned at WENY in Horseheads,NY and in DC with the Capitol Hill Press Corps where she worked behind the scenes for many major events including the Healthcare.gov website fiasco and Capitol Hill shooting.
She has had many random run-ins with celebrities, including shaking hands with Diane Sawyer in the ladies' room, and chatting up John McCain in a Capitol Hill elevator. Just lucky timing perhaps?
She also served as an anchor and reporter for GWeek, the university's student produced newscast. She even had the opportunity to cover national events that occurred in DC such as the Navy Yard shooting and government shutdown.
In her downtime, Emily enjoys running, playing the piano, and wine-tasting (her last job was as a sommelier!). She is thrilled to be living in Virginia and is ready to take on the challenge of reporting in the mountains.
Thanks for having me Harrisonburg!
