Melanie joined our team in July of 2006. After a short stint as the Weekend Anchor and Reporter, she was promoted to Anchor/Producer for WHSV news at 5:00 and 5:30. After nearly 5 years in that role, she was promoted to our weekday 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. anchor.

Before her arrival in the valley, Melanie was a Reporter, Anchor and News Director at WDNN in Dalton, Georgia. She graduated from West Virginia University in 2003 with a Bachelors degree in Journalism and a minor in Spanish. Originally from Los Angeles, California her interest in Journalism began when she was seven years old and experienced her first earthquake. After a news story put her young fears to rest, she knew that reporting was what she wanted to do. She discovered how much she loved it while working at her college campus radio station. Her radio reporting landed her a plane ticket for a seminar in Israel, where she reported on the on-going conflict and a suicide bombing.

Melanie says she enjoys the beauty of the Valley, and can't wait to go skiing, but she does miss the weather in LA. She's a die hard Lakers and Mountaineers fan, and although it may not be safe to admit it, she loves the Dallas Cowboys and says "they're coming back!"

In her spare time she enjoys working out, playing board games, and spending time with her husband and son. She welcomes anyone who has any story ideas or recipes to e-mail her.
