Val Thompson joined the WHSV News Team in January 2007, after graduating from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Val grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and got his first journalism experience as a sports writer for the local newspaper.
While in college, Val interned at CBS 2 Chicago and also worked as a writer and editor for the WGN Morning News and News at Noon. His favorite experiences at those stations include covering the election of Illinois Senator Barack Obama and the Chicago White Sox World Series victory.
In his spare time, Val loves spending time with his wife and small dog, watching sports, biking, and visiting historical sites.
