Amelia grew up in Chapel Hill NC, and yes, she is a Tarheel basketball fan! She is so excited to be in another college town and can't wait to see what Harrisonburg has to offer!
She is our newest member of the weather team! You can see her doing the weather on the weekends, and reporting during the week. Amelia is joining us from Miami, where she interned at WFOR and earned her Master's Degree from the University of Miami. (By the way, she's the first person to earn a Master's from UM in Broadcast Meteorology.) While there, she also reported, anchored, and did the weather for the University's television station.
Amelia earned her bachelors degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology where she studied Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, with a specialization in Meteorology. While working as an undergrad, she interned at Atlanta's CBS affiliate and was a volunteer at the National Weather Service.
Between her vigorous studies, Amelia managed a few years working in DC. The Washington Capitals stole her heart during her short stint in in-game entertainment for the hockey team. Go CAPS!! Outside of work, she enjoys being outdoors, riding her bike, traveling, reading, rooting for her college sports teams, and being in the presence of good company! Her love for the weather started at a very young age, and she always knew that this was what she wanted to do! She is thrilled to be part of WHSV and the Shenandoah Valley community !!
