Born and raised in Oklahoma, Laura has always loved the weather. After experiencing a couple weak tornadoes close to home, her passion for meteorology grew.
Laura graduated from the University of Oklahoma in May 2014 with a Bachelors degree in Meteorology with a minor in Broadcast Journalism. (Boomer Sooner!) While in college, Laura interned at KOCO in Oklahoma City where she worked behind the scenes for many severe weather days including May 30, 2013 during the El Reno tornado. Laura also served as a weather anchor and reporter for OU Nightly, the university's student produced newscast. She even had the opportunity to storm chase and has witnessed a handful of tornadoes first hand.
In her downtime, Laura enjoys camping, hiking, and yoga. She is thrilled to be living in Virginia and is ready to take on the challenge of forecasting in the mountains. It's a bit different from the wide open plains of Oklahoma!
