George Hirschmann joined the WHSV-TV weather team in June 2000,
and has been our on-air Chief Meteorologist since October 2000 on
the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. news casts. He graduated with a B. S.
degree from LaSalle University, and subsequently earned his
Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

Prior to attending Mississippi State, George spent 25 years in the entertainment
industry in Los Angeles in various capacities (you guess). Each day
George is responsible for analyzing weather data and presenting that
information, as related to the Shenandoah Valley, in a factual and
entertaining manner. He also represents WHSV and the Weather in the
community through public appearances, and on occasion, has produced his
own on-stage show. his favorite part of the job is interfacing with the
public and "teaching them the highs and lows of the weather...get it."

George is currently developing a meteorology course through James
Madison University for the Life Learning Center. George says he loves
the weather , "studying it, delivering it, and explaining it, and in doing so
make the viewers feel each and every weather day is a good day...come rain
or shine, or possible showers maybe, or just a little hail after a hot spell, or
some isolated..."
