Turner Ashby's Cayse Hartt has been doing gymnastics since she was four years old.
"She's got a great work ethic," said Hartt's head coach and aunt Jill Dean. "She's the first one in the gym and the last one to leave. She just works her little tail off."
"It's just intense," added Hartt. "It's a little more dangerous than running down a track. Flipping is fun."
Hartt has been the Knights' team captain and MVP since she was a freshman. Hartt says she loves every event but the "floor" is her favorite.
"Because bars and beam and vault, you see a lot of the same stuff, but floor, you have your own music," said Hartt. "Your music is different than everybody else. You get to put in your own moves."
"She likes showing off her expressions," added Dean. "She likes dancing, tumbling. She's an awesome tumbler, so floor is one of her better events."
Hartt may be better at pole vaulting. She's been named all-state every year.
"I had a coach tell me freshman year that I should run on the 4x400 because that's the only way I was going to make it to states," said Hartt with a laugh. "It just kind of lit a fire"
In regards to school, she's earned nothing less than an "A" since stepping into Turner Ashby.
"She's meticulous in her work," said teacher Cynthia Shank. "She wants it not only good or great but she wants it awesome. That's what she strives for is to make it not the best but the very best."
