The Waynesboro Police Department says it has made the largest seizure of psychedelic mushrooms in the city's history.
Thirty-one-year-old Felix Christopher Gutierrez was arrested Wednesday and faces charges of felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Police officers seized 107 Mason jars containing mushrooms. They also found one room in the New Hope Road apartment being used exclusively as a mushroom growing operation.
Along with the jars of mushrooms, police found pots and soil, thermostats, vents, and scales.
Gutierrez is being held at Middle River Regional Jail.
If convicted on both counts, he could face up to 41 years in prison and/or a $500,000 fine.
