Local groups in the Valley are using Facebook to rescue and find homes for as many homeless animals as they can.

Two of the groups, Furry Friends Needing Homes and Shenandoah Valley Animals, have rescued animals from up and down the East Coast. Their goal is to save as many animals before they are put down.

With the help of Facebook, they have been able to put abused and neglected pets into loving homes.

“It's been fantastic,” Tanya Shifflett, an organizer. “The people of the community have really pulled together and helped these animals out.”

Robin Bradfield is another organizer, and she said that the response they experienced to their cause has been surprising.

“Absolutely, it's been amazing,” said Bradfield. “I never knew there were so many animal lovers.”
