A former guard at a Virginia women's prison will be sentenced in July on a sex charge involving an inmate.

Media outlets report that John Bernard Bland Jr. pleaded guilty Friday to one count of carnal knowledge of an inmate. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped two other counts.

Bland was accused in three incidents involving the same inmate at Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women in June and July of 2011.

He's scheduled to be sentenced July 19 in Fluvanna County Circuit Court.
