Clean the Bay Day is getting bigger for its 20th anniversary.

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation manages the annual project, which involves thousands of Virginians working to remove tons of debris from area waters.

This year's event is June 7.

For the first time, it is expanding beyond Hampton Roads in eastern Virginia to include Richmond and northern Virginia. It also will feature an electronics waste recycling event at Old Dominion University in Norfolk.

The foundation is recruiting volunteers. Boaters, divers, and landlubbers are needed to serve as zone captains, registration assistants and trash collectors.
