A Fredericksburg bar was shut down and its owner faces charges including allowing lewd activities during a "Girls Gone Wild" event last month.

Police say 38-year-old Sean Bates was charged with operating a business without a license, allowing lewd behavior, allowing alcohol off the licensed premises and maintaining a common nuisance following a raid early Saturday. Bates owns Happy Endings Bar and Grill.

Fredericksburg Police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe says the lewd activities include hosting the April 28 "Girls Gone Wild" event, where women bared their breasts and kissed at the urging of bar management and patrons.

Bates also is accused of not paying more than $7,000 in city meals taxes.

Bates was released on his own recognizance and will be arraigned Tuesday.

was it really necessary to "raid" the place? Couldn't government agents have simply walked in and informed everyone that it was closed? Sheesh!
