A Virginia-based cable holding company is expanding its operations in Virginia and West Virginia.
Shenandoah Telecommunications says it has purchased cable services from Rapid Communications LLC that affect 17,650 customers in the two states.
The cable operations are centered around Covington, Virginia and Summersville and Weston, West Virginia.
In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Shenandoah said it will pay about $16 million for the assets.
Shenandoah said the price is subject to adjustments for changes in the number of customers or homes when the sale is finalized.
Pending regulatory approval, the sale should be finalized by the end of the year.
Shenandoah provides telephone, Internet and television cable service to about 200,000 customers.
