Two men are being questioned in the fatal shooting of a Virginia Beach police detective in a shopping center parking lot.
Virginia Beach police spokesman Adam Bernstein says the detective was a member of the special investigations unit. The officer isn't being identified until family members are notified.
Bernstein says the detective was working undercover when he was shot around 11:15 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of the Green Run Shopping Center. The officer died at the scene.
Two suspects were caught a few blocks away.
Bernstein says the suspects were being questioned Friday morning but no charges have been filed.
The detective was the first Virginia Beach officer to be killed in the line of duty in five years.
