Two men have been convicted of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a one-year-old during a home invasion in Chesapeake.

The Chesapeake jury deliberated for more than a day before returning its verdict Thursday. Twenty-two-year-old Shawn Sir Charles Ward and 20-year-old Julian Barksdale each had been charged with first-degree murder but jurors opted for the lesser charge.

Ny-Asia Tillmon was shot in the head November 10 when masked gunmen forced their way into a Chesapeake apartment. Two other people in the apartment were wounded.

According to court testimony, as many as three people forced their way into the apartment. A third person has never identified or arrested.

The trial's sentencing phase was to begin Thursday afternoon.
