There's a baby boomlet at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk.
Ten baby animals have been born at the zoo over the past couple of months.
Four copperhead snakes, a bongo, a bog turtle and two box turtles were born last month. Two six-banded armadillos were born in July.
Zoo executive director Greg Bockheim says the births of diverse animals and reptiles illustrate that the zoo's breeding and conservation programs are successful.
The Virginia Zoo is one of two zoos accredited by the Aquarium and Zoo Association that have a breeding pair of six-banded armadillos. The male is on loan from the Memphis Zoo for breeding.
