A half-century of fun and food at the State Fair of Virginia at the Richmond Raceway Complex is over.
The fair closed out its 52-year run at the race complex Sunday night. It will move to Caroline County next year.
Fair officials hope the new location at Meadow Event Park near Kings Dominion will increase the number of visitors. It's in a more rural site and is expected to draw more visitors from northern Virginia and Fredericksburg.
Organizers say about 250,000 people visited the fair this year.
