ORANGE, Va. (AP) Orange County planning officials are scheduled to again take up Wal-Mart's request to build a Supercenter near a Civil War battlefield where Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant first met in battle.

Orange County planning officials are scheduled to again take up Wal-Mart's request to build a Supercenter near a Civil War battlefield where Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant first met in battle.
Officials could vote Thursday whether to recommend to the Board of Supervisors that Wal-Mart be granted a special use permit.
The discount giant wants to erect a 138,000-square-foot store less than one mile from the Wilderness Battlefield in Locust Grove where 29,000 Union and Confederate soldiers were killed or injured 145 years ago.
During a public hearing in May opponents outnumbered supporters 2-1 among the more than 70 speakers.
Opponents say Wal-Mart should build elsewhere in the county. Supporters say it would bring much needed jobs and shopping options.

WallMart,has enough store's,these corporate giant's don't care about this country's history there only concern is the bottom line,fight them all the way otherwise future generations will not have our physical history to enjoy, Thank you.
I'm not a civil war buff or have any history or anything... but I just can't side with Walmart on this. Why can't they find a site a mile or 2 away?
Nothing is sacred anymore...except maybe the dollar.
