A Lynchburg man hoping to unseat Rep. Tom Perriello has been convicted of illegally possessing concealed weapons.

Bradley Rees was fined $100 in Lynchburg General District Court Wednesday and said afterward that he would continue his campaign. Rees is one of three announced candidates for the GOP nomination for the 5th District seat.

He pleaded no contest, and said later that the violation occurred a month before he announced his candidacy June 25. Prosecutors say officers found two guns in Rees' car after stopping him because of an expired inspection-rejection sticker.

Police confiscated both guns and the judge Wednesday made Rees forfeit them.
