Fairfax County parks and libraries could face additional budget cuts next year.

Fairfax County Executive Anthony H. Griffin has asked the Park Authority and public library system to propose 15-percent reductions in county funding for fiscal year 2011. That's on top of cuts of 15 percent or more this fiscal year.

Griffin is working to draft a budget that closes a projected shortfall of more than $315 million, caused largely by reduced residential and commercial property tax revenue.

Park and library officials say their budgets make up a relatively small portion of the county's general fund and have been targeted unfairly. They are planning a campaign to avoid potential cuts.
