Heavy Snow Causes Part of VA School's Roof to Collapse

Heavy snow caused part of an elementary school's roof to collapse in Salem. School officials say no one was in the building at the time.

Roanoke County Public Schools Superintendent Lorraine Lange said Tuesday moring that a section of roof over the cafeteria at Fort Lewis Elementary collapsed overnight.

The county's public schools are closed this week for winter break.

Lange says in a news release that school officials don't know if Fort Lee will be ready for students when classes resume January 4. Contingency plans are being developed.
