Prince William County Immigration Proposal

Prince William County officials are considering whether a proposal to deny county services for illegal immigrants would cost too much or subject the county to lawsuits.

Republican Supervisor John Stirrup proposed the idea last week. It would require the county to check the immigration status of all residents before providing services.

He says it should cost very little to enforce and would stand up to a legal challenge.

But some members of the board say such a measure could bring trouble. Supervisor John Jenkins, a Democrat, says the proposal would violate state laws. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
