Former County Supervisor at Hearing

A Chesterfield County judge will hold a hearing Monday in a lawsuit against a former county supervisor who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a teenager.

The girl sued Edward Barber for over $7 million.

Barber pleaded guilty in June 2006 to two misdemeanor counts of sexual battery.

Under a plea agreement, he was sentenced to two years in jail and that term was suspended. His sentence also included three years of probation, 100 hours of community service and the requirement that he register with the state's Sex Offender Registry.

Barber resigned from his supervisor seat and later was fired from his job as an elementary physical education teacher with the Chesterfield County school system.
