A portion of I-95 North outside Richmond is reopening this afternoon, a few hours after police say a tractor trailer flipped there, spilling diesel fuel into a nearby creek.
The truck was carrying eggs. Its driver and the driver of a small SUV have been taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.
Police say it happened at about 9:37 a.m. when an SUV ran off the road and struck a guardrail along I-95 northbound near Chamberlayne Avenue overpass. Police say the vehicle ricocheted into the path of a tractor trailer.
The truck hit a bridge support and overturned, spilling its contents and fuel into a nearby creek.
Police believe weather may have been a factor. Authorities have put down booms to pick up fuel spilled into the water.
