A gun dealer alerted federal authorities about a Southern Illinois University student, saying he seemed overly anxious to get the semiautomatic weapons he'd ordered online.
That student is now being held on $1 million bond after authorities charged him with attempting to make a terrorist threat.
Investigators contend 22-year-old Olutosin Oduwole wrote a note threatening a "murderous rampage" similar to the Virginia Tech shootings that left 32 people and the gunman dead in April.
Authorities found the note in Oduwole's car, and police say they found a loaded gun in his campus apartment.
An attorney who represented Oduwole on unrelated theft and fraud charges describes him as "pretty normal" and says he's in custody because of heightened security following the 2001 terrorist attacks.
