Body Recovered from James River in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Richmond firefighters have recovered a body in the James River.

Fire Lt. Robbie Hagaman says the body was recovered on the south bank of the river on Thursday morning.

The Richmond Times Dispatch reports a group of young people had been swimming near Brown's Island on Tuesday when one of them was spotted floating unconscious in the water. An emergency call was made but search crews lost sight of the body.

The identification of the victim wasn't immediately released. The body has been sent to a medical examiner.
