BUENA VISTA, Va. (AP) -- The U.S. Forest Service says firefighters have contained about 70 percent of a brush fire on Elephant Mountain near Buena Vista.

Forest Service spokesman Michael Williams tells media outlets that it could take several days to extinguish the fire.

The fire has burned 256 acres since it began Sunday. Schools in Buena Vista were closed Monday because of the fire.

Williams says no structures or homes have been damaged.
